The Police Retirement System now has a Summary Plan Description for members who want a quick easy-to-read guide for some of the most commonly-referenced provisions about the benefits and requirements of the System.  Many retirement systems feature these Summary Plan Descriptions as a “shorthand” alternative to the Plan Document.  However, please know that the comprehensive provisions of the Plan are contained within the Plan Document, and the Summary Plan Description is not intended as a legal substitute for the Plan Document.
